As part of its ongoing commitment to grassroots development, accountability, and community organization, the leadership and members of the Paga Youth Movement (PAYOM) have initiated a comprehensive internal review of the association’s governing framework and constitution.
As a leading umbrella civic group in the Kassena-Nankana West District, PAYOM continues to spearhead key local interventions—ranging from community health support and educational advocacy to peace-building and cultural promotion. To ensure these expanding initiatives remain transparent, efficient, and truly representative of Paga’s people, the movement has undertaken a thorough review of its foundational bylaws.
Key Objectives of the Constitutional Review
-
Enhancing Democratic Participation: Streamlining structures to allow broader representation from local sub-communities, professional groupings, and youth chapters across the traditional area.
-
Improving Operational Efficiency: Establishing clearer guidelines for project execution, fundraising, and partnerships with traditional authorities, local government institutions, and development partners.
-
Enforcing Accountability: Strengthening internal oversight mechanisms to ensure leadership transparency in managing community-led initiatives and development funds.
-
Adapting to New Challenges: Expanding the scope of the constitution to address emerging developmental priorities, such as local infrastructural expansion, educational milestones, and cross-border trade management in Paga.
By modernizing its internal governance framework, PAYOM aims to set a strong standard for grassroots organization in the Upper East Region. A well-structured constitution ensures that the movement remains a resilient, non-partisan pillar capable of driving sustainable development and defending the collective interests of the people of Paga for years to come.
